Builder of Digit, the first humanoid robot in commercial warehouse deployment. Agility operates RoboFab, the world's first humanoid robot factory in Salem, Oregon. Backed by Amazon, with pilot deployments at major logistics providers including GXO.
History
Agility Robotics emerged from the Oregon State University Dynamic Robotics Lab in 2015, founded by Jonathan Hurst and Damion Shelton. Hurst had spent 15 years studying bird locomotion, which inspired Digit's distinctive backward-bending knee design. The company's breakthrough came when Amazon invested and began piloting Digit in fulfillment centers. In 2023, Agility opened RoboFab in Salem, Oregon — the world's first factory dedicated to humanoid robot production. The facility can produce 10,000 Digit units per year, establishing Agility as the first company to mass-manufacture humanoid robots.

In pilot deployments at Amazon and GXO logistics facilities, managed via the Arc cloud fleet platform. Now deployed at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada in Woodstock, Ontario — marking one of the first humanoid robot deployments on Canadian soil.
