Norwegian robotics company (formerly Halodi Robotics) backed by OpenAI and Tiger Global. 1X is building NEO, the world's first consumer humanoid robot designed for home use, with a revolutionary soft-body design for safe human cohabitation.
History
1X Technologies (formerly Halodi Robotics) was founded in 2014 in Moss, Norway by Bernt Øivind Børnich. The company spent nearly a decade in stealth mode, quietly developing EVE — a wheeled humanoid for security applications. The pivotal moment came in 2023 when OpenAI's Startup Fund led a $23.5M investment, followed by a $100M Series B. That funding enabled 1X to develop NEO — the world's first consumer humanoid designed specifically for home use. The company's unique "soft-body" approach prioritizes human safety over raw performance, reflecting Norwegian design philosophy.
1X Technologies
1X Technologies' wheeled humanoid designed for enterprise security and logistics. Standing 186 cm tall and weighing 86 kg, EVE combines a bipedal-upper-body form with a wheeled mobile base for efficient indoor navigation. Deployed across security and logistics facilities, EVE features autonomous patrol routes, real-time anomaly detection, and two-way communication. Its upper body provides human-like manipulation for tasks like opening doors and operating equipment.
1X Technologies
The world's first consumer-ready humanoid designed for everyday home living, now shipping to early adopters. NEO features a soft-bodied design for safe human interaction, IP68-rated hands, and 22 DOF per hand for human-level dexterity. It can lift up to 70 kg, carry 25 kg, and self-charges when needed. Available for purchase at $20,000 or lease at $499/month.
1X Technologies
The Beta variant of 1X's NEO line features an upgraded EVE 2.0 vision system, improved grasping with 24-DOF hands, and a slimmer 28 kg frame.
